The launch is aimed at practices that already offer microneedling and want to lower the recurring cost of each treatment. Apex Pro Microneedling Pen is an FDA-cleared Class II microneedling device. It offers three treatment speeds, a motor that runs at up to 9,000 RPM, and needle depth adjustable from 0.1 to 2.5 millimeters in 0.1 millimeter increments. It runs on battery power with an optional AC power connection.

The pen accepts two sterile cartridge types. A 12-pin cartridge is intended for smaller areas around the eyes, nose, and lips, and a 36-pin cartridge is intended for full-face treatment. Practices use professional microneedling to address concerns such as the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, acne and facial scarring, uneven texture, and enlarged pores, and outcomes vary by patient and protocol.

Each device includes training and onboarding, and TruSkin provides support from its own U.S.-based staff. The device carries a lifetime warranty subject to its warranty terms, and if a pen needs service, TruSkin ships a loaner within 24 hours when notified by 2 p.m. Eastern.

TruSkin has also introduced a trade-in program for practices replacing an existing professional microneedling pen, with eligibility confirmed by a TruSkin specialist. Practices considering a switch can request a demonstration before purchasing.
