With Hires & Growth, Proptech Company Upflex Positions Itself As New UK/EU Hybrid Workplace Standard

New York, New York -

Former CBRE Head of Workspace Solutions EMEA Isobel McKenna and former Kontor VP of Workspace Solutions EMEA  Freddie Case will help lead Upflex's European growth.

Two high-level new hires at Upflex's London-based EMEA HQ kick off a new chapter for the hybrid-focused proptech company as it steadily builds its presence in the UK and Europe.

A new EMEA SVP of Workplace Solutions, Isobel McKenna, formerly of CBRE and IWG, will run Upflex's London office. She joins Freddie Case, former director of enterprise at Kontor, who has been appointed VP of workplace solutions, EMEA. McKenna and Case will be at the forefront of the company's continued expansion in the European market.

Headquartered in New York, Upflex opened its European HQ in December 2021, after acquiring workspace aggregator WorkClub and incorporating WorkClub's hundreds of UK locations into its growing global flex space network. Now, Upflex is targeting the addition of about 200 new locations per month this year, approximately half of which are expected to be in the EMEA region.

Both Case and McKenna have extensive experience in the flexible office industry. Before her previous post as head of EMEA client solutions at CBRE, McKenna was IWG's VP of enterprise accounts. Before Kontor, Case was at WeWork and Flexioffices.

These hires come right on the heels of Upflex's late May announcement of a $30M Series A round led by WeWork. Upflex entered into a strategic and exclusive partnership with the coworking giant in February 2022 and is now the sole aggregator of WeWork inventory, giving both Upflex and WeWork clients access to Upflex's entire thousands-of-locations-strong global network of flexible workspace.

Globally, the Upflex team has more than doubled in size since January and continues to grow to accommodate this ever-expanding space network and increased demand for deeply customizable, technology-forward solutions for the hybrid workplace.

In Europe, Upflex has access to over 1,900 locations. In the UK in particular, Upflex’s network extends to over 500 locations across key regions, totalling more than 400,000 square feet of flexible, on-demand office space.

"We see huge potential for further growth in UK and Europe as hybrid work becomes the new norm," said co-founder and CEO of Upflex Christophe Garnier.

“Following the close of our $30m Series A funding and our exclusive deal with WeWork, we are perfectly positioned to accelerate our expansion into these markets, and I couldn’t be happier to appoint Isobel and Freddie to key leadership roles in our EMEA office to oversee this growth," Garnier said. “They each bring vast experience in the flex workspace sector to their roles, along with the dynamism, vision and energy that has powered Upflex’s journey to date.”

Isobel McKenna said: “I’m incredibly excited to be joining the Upflex team and taking forward our growth plans in the UK and Europe. What Upflex provides is completely unique: a multi-faceted technology platform that connects occupiers, brokerage firms and flex space partners with the solutions essential to meeting the needs of the new hybrid workforce. Demand for flex will only continue to grow and I couldn’t be more inspired by the role which Upflex is playing in revolutionising how we work.”
