Winners Announced for 2024 Mobileheroes Global Competition: AI Innovations Take Center Stage
TAIPEI, TAIWAN (Merxwire) – The 23rd Mobileheroes competition, organized by ITRI, announced its international competition winners on October 23. Teams from Taiwan and abroad showcased innovative applications of 5G technology integrated with AI across various sectors such as AR/MR, smart energy, and communication network management. Finalists exhibited their solutions on-site, offering a glimpse of promising new ICT technologies that support industrial transformation.
This year’s theme, “5G with AI and ESG,” aimed to encourage practical, interdisciplinary solutions. With over 20 countries represented, including Taiwan, the USA, Canada, Portugal, Italy, and more, the competition attracted wide support from sponsors like Chunghwa Telecom, Far EasTone, HTC G REIGNS, Pegatron, Qualcomm, and UfiSpace, who contributed over 2 million TWD in prizes and provided mentorship throughout the competition.
In the final round, the multinational team Ataya (Taiwan/USA) won first prize with their “CHORUS AP,” a plug-and-play 5G private network solution for SMEs. OVA from Canada took second place for their “StellarX” platform, which allows users to create XR experiences using generative AI. Enline from Portugal won third place for their digital twin technology, enabling predictive maintenance of energy assets through cloud-based monitoring without additional hardware.
According to ITRI IEK Consulting, advances in 6G, AI, IoT, and satellite technology are expected to bolster Taiwan’s export of high-speed fiber, Wi-Fi 6/6E, 5G, and FWA devices, with a projected market value of TWD 1.2965 trillion by 2025.
Supporting companies not only sponsored but also provided feedback, resources, and guidance, helping teams establish sustainable business models and fostering the next generation of industry leaders. This competition aligns with ITRI’s 2035 vision for Taiwan, focusing on smart living, health and wellness, sustainable environments, and resilient societies through advancements in AI, cybersecurity, semiconductors, and smart sensing. This strategy aims to drive Taiwan’s industry innovation and global competitiveness in key tech sectors.
