An up-and-coming Christian author has released a guide summarizing the Bible's narrative from creation to salvation, offering an overview of Christianity’s central themes.

Big Spring, United States, June 21, 2025 -- Christian author Betty Johansen has published a new guide that distills the Bible's central narrative into a single, accessible overview for new believers. The piece, titled “Paradise: Choose It or Lose It,” builds upon her book "The Bible in Brief" by offering readers an even more concise summary of Scripture's historical arc and theological significance.

The article is accessible at https://bettyjohansen.com/2025/06/17/paradise-choose-it-or-lose-it/

In the guide, Johansen opens by highlighting the “bookends” of Scripture - Genesis 1-2 and Revelation 21-22 - to illustrate God's original intention for humanity and the ultimate restoration of that purpose. She explains that both Eden and the New Jerusalem share a common element: God dwelling among His people. This perspective frames the entire biblical story as one of relationship between Creator and creation.

She also organizes the Old Testament into three distinct sections: the problem (humanity's separation from God), the solution (obedience to God's laws), and what she terms "the impossible mission" (humanity's inability to achieve the required perfection).

The latter half of the article deals with the New Testament, in particular the means by which God accomplished "the impossible mission" laid out in the Old Testament. “Jesus willingly endured crucifixion, and because He was perfectly pure and holy, His sacrifice satisfied heaven’s justice,” Johansen wrote.

Johansen's approach with her piece is based on her belief that understanding the Bible's overall structure helps readers comprehend its individual parts. “It’s the same principle as looking at the box top as you put a jigsaw puzzle together,” she said.

A retired educator, Johansen taught seventh-grade science and high school chemistry before pursuing a writing career. Her work includes Christian mysteries and the aforementioned "The Bible in Brief," a groundbreaking attempt to explore the entirety of the Bible and its central lessons in one slim volume.

Additionally, through Wordsmith World, she creates content that aims to be both entertaining and faith-affirming while offering readers a biblically sound take on a number of Christian topics.
