July 27 Training Session with Guest Speaker

On July 27, 2024, Service One will host a retired Wisconsin State Patrol guest speaker, who is an expert in the field of road safety. The officer will perform a direct review of the pre-trip inspection process for tractors and trailers to support drivers with equipment inspection and help prevent drivers from being shut down at a scale if their equipment is questioned.

The first concern of Service One is to train drivers and continually communicate all aspects of truck driver safety. Drivers are required to wear seat belts, drive at a safe speed, stay focused and avoid distracted driving. They must continually check blind spots, make careful wide turns and be aware of long stopping distances. Drivers are directed to always use turn signals and maintain their vehicles.

Some of the most critical issues that have an impact on safety and accident prevention include avoiding distractions by using mobile phones, whether that means looking at text messages or apps. Even adjusting the radio and looking down for a split second can be a matter of life or death.

Of course, being aware of blind spots is paramount. Making turns with large trucks and not seeing a small car because of severe weather, insufficient lighting or carelessness can result in accidents and even death. Service One drivers always err on the side of caution.
