CHINGMU and Hitch Open Form Global Partnership to Advance Physical AI
High-precision motion tracking and spatial measurement will support competitions, robotics training and real-world research
Shanghai, China, November 7, 2026 - CHINGMU and Hitch Open signed a strategic cooperation agreement during the 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE). CHINGMU becomes a global strategic partner of Hitch Open and the official motion capture technology partner for HOPE events worldwide.
The partnership connects CHINGMU's expertise in spatial sensing, motion tracking and multimodal data acquisition with Hitch Open's international competition and research network. Cooperation will span HOPE competitions, joint innovation centers and further applications of real-world motion data in physical AI.
Hitch Open uses challenging real-world competitions to advance AI perception, decision-making and action, supporting autonomous driving, embodied AI and robotics. Its events include the Hitch Open Ping-Pong Embodied AI Challenge (HOPE) and the Hitch Open World AI Racing Championships on Tianmen Mountain's 99 Bends.
Hitch Open’s open-source physical AI platform, featuring autonomous robot table tennis, was also named one of the top 10 frontier-technology exhibits at the CIIE, standing out among more than 10,000 exhibits at this year’s expo.
Founded in 2015, CHINGMU was China's first company to develop a fully proprietary optical motion capture stack spanning algorithms, hardware and software. All its core technologies are developed in-house. A global leader in motion capture, CHINGMU combines computer vision and AI to deliver high-precision 3D sensing and human-computer interaction solutions for embodied AI, engineering research, virtual reality, life sciences, digital entertainment and education.
As HOPE's official motion capture technology partner, CHINGMU will support events worldwide, working with Hitch Open on training data acquisition, competition sensing and related activities. The collaboration will also extend to research testing and other physical AI applications.

From Strategic Partnership to a Research Base
On July 19, 2026, Hitch Open, Caohejing Hi-Tech Park and the Shanghai Humanoid Robot Innovation Incubator launched the Caohejing-Hitch Open Physical Intelligence Joint Innovation Center. Hitch Open's first permanent research base in China provides a stable, reproducible research and training environment for universities competing in HOPE and other research teams. Robot platforms, high-precision motion capture systems and dedicated computing resources support motion control, environmental perception and autonomous decision-making.CHINGMU has supplied the center with a complete optical motion capture system and technical support. Starting in Caohejing, it will also support deployments at Hitch Open research centers in other locations. Connecting data acquisition, dynamic scene perception and testing will enable sustained research between competitions and validation through real-world interaction.

A World-Record Rally Validates High-Precision Motion Tracking
Robot table tennis demands rapid trajectory estimation, stroke planning and coordinated motion despite changing ball placement and spin. Reliable motion measurements of both the ball and robot are fundamental to that process.
At the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), AGIBOT, CHINGMU, Peking University, the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence (BAAI), UC Berkeley and other teams presented a HOPE autonomous humanoid table-tennis exhibition. Presented as the world's first full-size bipedal humanoid capable of fully autonomous table-tennis play, the robot rallied with visitors without remote control, scripts or human intervention. CHINGMU captured 3D trajectories of the fast-moving ball and robot, providing ground-truth motion data for dynamic interaction.

Hitch Open co-founder Dr. Allen Y. Yang, chair of UC Berkeley's Robot Open Autonomous Racing (ROAR) steering committee, has highlighted the difficulty of tracking a small, fast-moving ball in 3D and understanding how spin affects its trajectory. The team uses CHINGMU's optical motion capture system for high-speed, high-precision measurements to support this research.
At the launch event, two humanoid robots running Hitch Open’s open-source physical AI model sustained a 142-shot table tennis rally. According to Hitch Open, the result set a world record for autonomous robot-to-robot table tennis. CHINGMU’s K Series motion capture system provided continuous, accurate 3D motion data, supplying reliable input for prediction and control.
At the China International Import Expo (CIIE), the robot table tennis demonstration powered by CHINGMU’s high-precision motion capture technology once again proved a crowd favorite, attracting visitors including Tim Pan of Media Storm. Crowds gathered to watch the rallies and eagerly try it for themselves, packing the demonstration area and creating a lively atmosphere.

"We believe robotic competition is more than a showcase for technology. It is an important step toward putting physical AI to work in the real world," said Zhang Haiwei, founder and CEO of CHINGMU, at the signing ceremony.
Through HOPE and the joint innovation centers, the partners will expand motion capture, motion measurement and real-world data applications in robot training, dynamic interaction and research testing. CHINGMU will continue turning real-world motion into reliable data that researchers and developers can capture, understand and use.
