Veteran Investor Brings Over $300 Million in AUM and Expands Client Access to Institutional Research, Integrated Planning, and Trust Capabilities

First Manhattan, a $36+ billion independently owned and operated investment advisory firm, today announced that Beddow Capital Management, a registered investment advisor with over $300 million in assets under management, has joined the Firm. Edward Beddow will serve as Senior Managing Director and Portfolio Manager and will continue to advise clients from Jackson, Wyoming. He brings nearly 40 years of experience in financial markets.

Mr. Beddow’s decision to join First Manhattan was driven by an alignment of philosophy and culture. First Manhattan continues to grow selectively, partnering with investors who share its commitment to independent thinking, rigorous research, enduring client relationships, and the highest degree of integrity. Each addition reflects a shared belief that operating within a professionally built firm strengthens generational continuity and yields a great outcome for clients.

“We are highly intentional about the investors and people we invite to join First Manhattan,” said Zachary Wydra, Chief Executive Officer. “Ed has built a thoughtful, client-centered practice that has been driven by successful fundamental investing over many decades. Just as importantly, he recognizes the benefit of joining a firm with the scale, infrastructure, and institutional stability that reinforces and enhances what he already does well.”

Mr. Beddow earned an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He began his career in investment banking at Dean Witter & Co. before dedicating himself exclusively to investment management. Over time, he has developed a concentrated, high-conviction investment approach emphasizing intrinsic value, disciplined capital allocation, and long-term ownership.

“Joining First Manhattan allows me to continue serving clients with the same investment philosophy that has defined my career,” said Mr. Beddow. “At the same time, the Firm’s research depth, operational strength, and integrated trust and wealth planning capabilities meaningfully broaden what we can deliver to clients over time. It was important to find a home that strengthens, rather than changes, how I invest and advise clients.”
