Alex Temes Named Director of Spatial Technologies at Applied Information

GIS and ITS industry veteran to lead company’s growing spatial data initiatives

Applied Information, Inc., North America’s leading provider of connected Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technology, today announced the appointment of Alex Temes, FESA, GISP, as Director of Glance® Spatial Technologies. In this role, Temes will lead the expansion of Applied Information’s spatial data capabilities to support public safety resource planning, connected and autonomous vehicle applications and smart city infrastructure management.

Temes specializes in geographic information systems (GIS), data analytics, and first responder resource planning and performance analysis.

A recognized leader in the field, Temes was one of the first analysts to earn the Fire & Emergency Services Analyst (FESA) credential from the Center for Professional Credentialing. He is also a certified Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) through the GIS Certification Institute and a former Center for Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) Peer Assessor.

Most recently, Temes made three presentations on the application of geospatial data for emergency services at the 2025 ESRI User Conference in San Diego, one of the world’s largest gatherings of GIS professionals. His presentations focused on the integration of GIS and connected infrastructure to improve emergency response and public safety outcomes.

Prior to joining Applied Information, he served in various roles with the City of Roswell, Georgia, including in the Fire and Administration departments. He also served as the senior analyst for the Gwinnett County, Georgia Fire department’s Strategic Planning and Accreditation unit in metro Atlanta. Alex was a fire GIS/data consultant for a public safety data non-profit and a project manager for a leading fire service analytics firm, where he focused on special projects and GIS initiatives.

Temes earned his bachelor’s degree in Geography with a certification in GIS from DePaul University and a master’s degree from Oklahoma State University’s School of Fire Protection and Safety, where his research focused on GIS and data applications for fire and emergency services.
