Coming in 2026: U-Haul Buys Land for First Store in Grand Chute
U-Haul® has purchased a 7.78-acre lot off West Neubert Road with plans to build a state-of-the-art retail, moving and self-storage center to better meet the needs of Grand Chute residents.
The property was acquired Aug. 22. Plans call for U-Haul Moving & Storage at Northland Ave. to be completed by summer 2026.
The primary three-story facility will house more than 1,000 climate-controlled self-storage units with high-tech security features at affordable price points; a sprawling retail showroom with boxes, moving supplies, towing accessories, bike racks and more; a bay to accommodate professional hitch installations; a drive-in load/unload bays for storage customers; and U-Haul Truck Share 24/7 services.
A separate 10,000-square-foot warehouse will store U-Box portable moving containers. Propane refills will be available on site as well.
“We are very excited to offer the growing community of Grand Chute the convenience to be do-it-yourselfers with a beautiful new U-Haul center,” said Steven Sabah, U-Haul Company of Northern Wisconsin and the UP president.
Sabah intends to hire up to 12 Team Members to staff the new store when the project nears completion. U-Haul will look to hire locally to promote job growth within the Grand Chute community. U-Haul, honored as a Best for Vets employer by The Military Times, actively recruits veterans and gives them preference in the hiring process. Find U-Haul careers at uhauljobs.com.
U-Haul at Northland Ave. is set to become the Company’s 50th owned-and-operated store in Wisconsin and its first in Grand Chute.
Until the Grand Chute store is ready, customers can find truck and trailer rentals at multiple neighborhood dealers in Appleton. Self-storage services are currently available at five U-Haul centers within a 12-mile radius of Grand Chute: three in Neenah, one in Kimberly and the recently opened U-Haul Moving & Storage of Fox Cities North in Kaukauna.
U-Haul has partnered with independent dealers to provide communities with accessible mobility since 1945. During these challenging times, more than 21,000 small businesses across the U.S. and Canada are generating supplemental income by partnering with U-Haul. When customers rent from their local U-Haul dealers, they are directly supporting small businesses in their community. Because there is no financial investment from dealers, they are not U-Haul franchises. They are simply small businesses with enough lot space to park U-Haul equipment and the time to welcome more customers while meeting the mobility needs of their neighbors.
