Lee Chambers, the British psychologist and founder, won the Health and Wellbeing Champion category at this year's MBCC Awards

This year's Multicultural Business and Community Champion Awards took place at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham, and the event recognised 13 individuals who have shaped the landscape of multicultural Britain.

The MBCC awards was set up in 2016 as a non-profit organization with the sole purpose of recognizing people nationally. The mission was to focus on the people who make a difference in both the business and the general community. People who go out of their way to help others selflessly without wanting any praise or thanks. This is the platform where those people can be recognized nationally for the incredible work they do for the country.

Winners on the evening included athlete Linford Christie, boxer Nigel Benn and singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock, while the judging panel contained the collective expertise and diverse backgrounds of twenty changemakers, including presenter Jay Blades, journalist Marverine Cole and heptathlete Dame Denise Lewis. The event supported the Charity Power The Fight and was sponsored by Birmingham City Council and Lloyds Bank.

Lee Chambers Male Ally Champion

Lee Chambers, the Lancashire-based founder and male ally, was this year's winner in the hotly contested Health and Wellbeing Champion category. He received the award in front of the 900-strong crowd in attendance, and in his speech highlighted how important it was that wellbeing was for everyone, not just for the privileged few. The judges recognised his consistency in challenging the status quo, his tireless work to bring well-being and inclusion together within organisations, and his standout research on the impact of allyship on mental health.

On being victorious in his category, Chambers added "It was a real honour to be recognised in front of my peers. I'd never been able to make the awards previously, but I can now see what I've been missing out on. Rarely do we get the opportunity to celebrate multiculturalism in the UK, as the conversation is so often negative. I'm excited to continue to make an impact and this award is another stepping stone on the journey to bring well-being that everyone can be a part of."
