Resilient Careers Summer Academy to Offer Training for Pandemic/Recession-Proof Jobs

At Grossmont College’s Resilient Career Summer Academy, participants will get support and training from the organizers at Career Services, including job placement, career exploration, interview preparation, resume help, and more

The global COVID-19 pandemic claimed the lives of millions and caused enormous economic repercussions. It forced companies’ consolidations, closures, and layoffs. Thousands lost their jobs, forcing them to find employment elsewhere. The future of graduates seem to be hanging on the balance as the pandemic looms.

Given the unpalatable effect COVID-19 has had on the corporate world and in course to route through the current trend, Grossmont College’s CTE Division has created an event that focuses on resilient careers, so San Diegans can learn about pandemic and recession-proof jobs. This two-day event is designed to cushion the effect of COVID-19 on jobs, by providing sessions that show participants resilient careers and how these are not affected by the pandemic or economic recession.

Grossmont College offers training for jobs that have been identified in a study by the Center of Excellence for Labor Market Research (COE) as pandemic/recession-proof. The academy is open to anyone interested in learning more about resilient careers and how to jump-start a career even as COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc in the world.

Resilient careers are in high demand and offer wage increases in San Diego County. These careers have been identified as recession/pandemic-proof and are guaranteed to provide graduates with opportunities to find sustainable employment during an economic downturn or other unforeseen events. Participants will be guided and tutored by experts and skilled business career guides at the Resilient Careers Summer Academy.

The event will be held virtually via Zoom on June 22 and June 23 from 9:30AM to 12:00PM.
