Item 8.01 Other Events.
On February 7, 2012, AsiaInfo-Linkage, Inc. (the “Company”) announced that its Special Committee of the Board of Directors (the “Special Committee”) has retained Goldman Sachs (Asia) L.L.C. as its financial advisor to assist it in consideration of a proposal by Power Joy (Cayman) Limited (“Power Joy”), a wholly owned subsidiary of CITIC Capital China Partners II, L.P., pursuant to which Power Joy proposes to acquire all of the outstanding shares of common stock of the Company in cash at a price which represents a premium over the current stock price, and any potential alternative transactions involving the Company.
