On Friday, September 8, 2006, Simmons First National Corporation Board of Directors approved the election of Robert L. Shoptaw as a director of the Company. Committee appointments for Mr. Shoptaw have not been determined at this time.

Mr. Shoptaw, chief executive officer of Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield, has over 36 years tenure with ABCBS. He also serves on the board of directors for Easter Seals, the Little Rock Metro Centre Improvement District and the National Institute for Health Care Management.
